Servicing your Rolex watch at Goldschmiede Hofacker

You may leave your Rolex watch for servicing at any Official Rolex Retailer or brand boutique. When you hand over your watch, the staff will record your requests before it is entrusted to a watchmaker.

Assessment of the watch

Your watch is carefully examined by a watchmaker, who assesses the work required and prepares an estimate. Once the estimate has been accepted, the service can begin.

Preparation for servicing

After the bracelet has been removed, the movement – still fitted with its dial and hands – is taken out of the case. The movement, case and bracelet follow separate paths during servicing and are reassembled at the end.

Dismantling the movement

The movement is completely dismantled and every component is carefully examined. Any component that no longer meets Rolex requirements is automatically replaced.

Cleaning the movement components

The individual components are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath to remove impurities, including from the most inaccessible areas.

Assembly and lubrication of the movement

The components are dried and the movement is fully reassembled and lubricated. The watchmaker then carries out an initial adjustment according to the brand’s criteria.

Refinishing the case and bracelet

The case is completely dismantled. The middle case, bezel, case back and bracelet are polished or satin-finished according to their original finish. This work requires great skill and sensitivity.

Reassembling the case

Once refinishing and cleaning are complete, the case components are reassembled and the seals are replaced. The waterproofness of the case is then checked.

Casing the movement

After subjecting every element to strict technical and aesthetic checks, the watchmaker places the movement, now refitted with its dial and hands, back into the case.

Precision testing

Once the movement has been cased, its chronometric precision is checked again. The watchmaker makes the final adjustments so that its precision meets Rolex requirements.

After the case back has been screwed down, the watch is tested for at least 24 hours while the movement undergoes a long-term functional test developed by Rolex.
