Rolex Yacht-Master II
Designed specifically for regatta starts, the Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II combines maritime spirit with technical excellence.
This unique regatta chronograph features an exclusive Rolex-developed function: a programmable countdown with a mechanical memory and on-the-fly synchronisation.
A distinctive bezel
Available in Oystersteel or 18 ct yellow gold, the Yacht-Master II features a bidirectional rotatable bezel with a blue ceramic Cerachrom insert graduated over 60 minutes. Special tools are required to machine this exceptionally hard, scratch-resistant high-technology ceramic. The recessed graduations and numerals are coated with a thin layer of platinum or yellow gold using PVD. The first half-hour can be read minute by minute, while the chronograph seconds hand gives a precise reading of the final 30 seconds. Its knurled edge offers excellent grip and helps the wearer measure intervals such as the sailing time between two buoys.
Countdown function
The Yacht-Master II countdown is intuitive and easy to use, supporting sailors during the decisive starting phase of a regatta. It is programmed with the lower pusher, each press advancing the countdown minute hand to the required duration. The mechanical memory retains this duration for future races with the same countdown. For clearer reading, the countdown minute and seconds hands move anticlockwise – a first for Rolex.
Oyster bracelet
The Yacht-Master II is fitted with an Oyster bracelet. Introduced at the end of the 1930s, this three-piece metal bracelet with broad, gently curved links is particularly robust.
In Oystersteel or 18 ct yellow gold, the bracelet is equipped with a streamlined Oysterlock safety clasp that prevents accidental opening. The Rolex-designed Easylink extension allows its length to be increased by approximately 5 mm. On the 18 ct yellow gold version, patented ceramic inserts around the metal pins improve flexibility and help prevent premature wear.
Exclusive materials
One Yacht-Master II version is crafted from Oystersteel, an exclusive alloy that preserves its lustre even in the harshest environments. The other is made from 18 ct yellow gold. The captivating radiance of Rolex gold results from years of research devoted to perfecting precious-metal craftsmanship. Rolex casts and machines its own 18 ct gold alloys in its in-house foundry.
Calibre 4162
The Yacht-Master II is equipped with calibre 4162, an evolution of calibre 4161. Developed specifically for regatta starts, it features an adjustable countdown with a mechanical memory and on-the-fly synchronisation. This patent-pending system makes the function simple and intuitive to set using the lower pusher.
Calibre 4162 incorporates key Rolex innovations, including the Chronergy escapement. Its barrel architecture and efficient escapement provide approximately 72 hours of power reserve. The movement also features refined finishing, including bridges with Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration and an openworked oscillating weight.
Superlative Chronometer certification
Like all Rolex watches, the Yacht-Master II carries the Superlative Chronometer certification. This exclusive designation confirms its exceptional performance on the wrist. The in-house certification is strictly monitored by independent, internationally recognised Swiss bodies.
The green seal symbolises its Superlative Chronometer status and is coupled with an international five-year guarantee.
